The Istiqlaliiyat and Offices project is a development covering 3580 square meters, located in the historical area of Baku city known as Icheri Sheher. This area is the oldest inhabited part of Baku and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, making the project a significant undertaking that required a great deal of care and attention to detail. As the lead designer for the project, the Design Bureau was responsible for designing the project from the initial concept design stage all the way through to the technical development stage. One of the main challenges faced during the project was that the area of the development was spread across eight different venues, each with a different purpose, including apartments and offices. This required a highly sensitive approach to ensure that each venue was designed and executed with the appropriate considerations in mind. Despite these challenges, the result is a development that is a fitting addition to the historic and culturally significant Icheri Sheher area. The developers have shown a great deal of care and respect for the historical context of the area, and the result is a project that seamlessly integrates modern design and technology with the historical architecture and aesthetics of the surrounding area. The Istiqlaliiyat and Offices project is a testament to the possibilities of sensitive and thoughtful design in preserving and enhancing historic areas while meeting the needs of modern development.
